Our philosophy
Viveiro golf & country Club is not only a golf course, it’s the realisation of The Impossible in a very sustainable way.
Sal is a desert island, where rain and sweet water are simply not available, so that realizing a golf course seemed impossible. We are proud to have been able to prove everyone wrong.

The grass is placed only on game areas (greens and fairways), leaving space for the authentic island moonlike soil. Red, grey and brown soil create a decoration that links the game with the greenery around, offered mostly by palm trees, aloe vera and cactuses.
This design ensures a limited use of water and lows the impact of grass on a desert.
Also, the grass used is a special pasmpalum that could receive up to 70% of pure sea water.
In conclusion: the golf course has created jobs for the past 14 years, it has provided the island with a tropical forest, and it’s now a very important infrastructure for tourism, maintaining and preserving the environment.

Enjoy the round
You can study the whole course even before coming! Here you find the description of each hole, and a fly-over video to check out every detail of the course. Nothing like being here, but definitively a good spoiler for the curious golfer.
Hole 1: "São Vicente (The island of Culture & Music)"
PAR4
The tailwind coming from behind can really help your first shot to get to green… but mind the bunker!
Hole 2: "Maio (The smallest inhabited desertic Island)"
PAR3
It looks like a little green hope in the middle of the desert. You’ll be headwinds left-right… and mind the sand!
Before shooting though, take a second to enjoy the sea view behind you.
Hole 3: "Santiago (The capital’s island)"
PAR5
Here for the first time, you realize how small the island really is as you can see the sea on both East and West side: like being on a big boat in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. The wind left-right can push you to the out-runs, so try to calculate precisely the distance in order to land on grass and… enjoy the view!
Hole 4: "Sal (Our beloved island)"
PAR4
It will challenge you with its rising up the hill. Your goal will be locating properly on the second pitch in order to have a good shot to the green.
Hole 5: "Fogo (The Vulcano Island)"
PAR5
It’s the first hole with a real water obstacle! The lake can be magnetic and makes the shot to the green more delicate. From this green you can appreciate almost the whole course and appreciate its unique beauty.
Hole 6: "Brava (the flowers’ island)"
PAR3
It has wind right-left coming from behind. The green is just behind the lake. While playing here, you might meet the Sea-Eagle that lives around the course: It loves swimming and fishing in the lake!
Hole 7: "São Nicolau (The mountain island)"
PAR4
It's dog-leg delimited on the right by out-runs. The wind coming left-right makes it tricky to play with the bunker in green. Enjoy the surroundings with succulent plants (cactus, agave of all types… ) that create a fantastic frame to the hole.
Hole 8: "Santa Luzia (the non-habited island)"
PAR3
The tailwind makes it a delicate decision to choose the iron to start with.
Hole 9: "Santo Antão (the greenest island)"
PAR5
It's must be very well studied in order to avoid the water obstacle on the right. At the end of the day, you can enjoy some amazing sunset lights from here.
